Everybody knows St. Anne's is a sweet place. But not everyone knows St. Anne's owns a colony of honeybees. Our bees are busy helping the earth every day by pollinating flowers far and wide.

Do you know these bee facts?

•   The place where beekeepers keep beehives is called an apiary or a bee yard.

•   If you see a honeybee flying around you, she's a girl! Honeybees have three castes: drones (male), workers (female), and queens (female). The drones and the queen stay in the hive. So, it's always the female workers you see buzzing from flower to flower.

•   The average worker bee makes only about 1/12th of a teaspoon of honey in her lifetime.
